Staff

Dave Hutchens dhutchens@urbansalvage.com.au

0408 360 835

Flawed mentor for the timber team. Chronicles the mythologies and mantras of the middle classes. Distractions: Ben Webster or Neil Young, Coopers or a cup of tea; a book, a chair, a shady tree; the embrace of the bush; the silence of the outback.

Andy Mineur amineur@urbansalvage.com.au

0407 489 858

Cut his teeth on recycled timber making kitchens and joinery from recycled Baltic and Kauri pine to an AC/DC soundtrack. Never shook the fever as a journeyman carpenter. Shared the resurrection task of an old timber pub for a few years in Queensland. Back to recycled wood in Melbourne. Distractions: kids, mortgage, homebrewing and Altona Beach.

Tim Ayris tayris@urbansalvage.com.au

Tim Ayris joins us at Urban Salvage with a strong local background. Shipped to the Colony of Victoria at the age of three as a Ten Pound Pom, Tim has lived in the Willie area ever since. His first encounter with timber was the cane at Williamstown High, then a carpentry apprenticeship at Newport TAFE and the SEC. A bedroom guitarist of some note, Tim brings a rhythm schtick to the Spotswood factory. The full Britpop catalogue, in fact. Hit me.

The Business

You can find us in the shadow of the Westgate Bridge - directly opposite Spotswood railway station. It's an indoor, self-serve timber shop with loose, shelved dressed furniture board as well as packs of flooring.

Our extensive display suite is a good place for architects and clients to meet and discuss options in flooring, decking and screening. The staff at Urban Salvage are well-versed in all aspects of timber or design. Talk to us. We are happy to share your planning, advise on your project, answer your questions and help you buy timber you can live with.

Our staff are timber-addicts. We are interested in timbers, in milling, drying and grading. We are endlessly curious about forests, hardwood species, the bush, the outback and the traditions of timber use.
